Our mission is to create innovative solutions through community collaborations to meet the unmet mental health, addiction, prevention, and early intervention needs of our Racine County children and their families.

Building a Healthier Future Together
Through locally tailored strategies, that involve all sectors of the community, including the youth.

Prevention:
Utilize evidence-based strategies designed to proactively reduce and prevent substance use by addressing underlying risk factors, promoting healthy choices, and creating supportive environments for youth and families

Collaboration:
Foster collaboration among community members, organizations, and institutions to create a united front against youth substance use.

Education:
Provide education and awareness programs to inform community members about the risks and consequences of substance use.

Youth Empowerment:
Empower youth through leadership and skill-building activities to resist the influence of drugs and alcohol

Policy Advocacy:
Advocate for and support policies that promote a drug-free community Key Strategies

Community Assessment:
Regularly assess the local substance use trends to identify trends, risk factors, and vulnerable populations.

Community Coalitions:
Establish and strength community coalitions involving various sectors such as schools, law enforcement, healthcare, and businesses to work collaboratively
Meet Our Team

Jason Meekma
Executive Director
Jason is the Authorized Organization Representative for the Drug-Free Communities Grant and partners with the Racine Collaborative for Children’s Mental Health (C2MH). He previously served as the DFC Coordinator for the Racine County Youth Coalition from 2011 to 2013.
As the Executive Director of Focus on Community for the past ten years and a team member for over fourteen, Jason has contributed to every program within the agency, starting as a Program Facilitator. Since stepping into leadership in 2016, he has focused on strengthening the organization while deepening its commitment to the Racine community. Under his leadership, Focus on Community has doubled its operating budget, launched four new programs, and built a dedicated team advancing the value of prevention

KC Missall
Program Director
K.C. Missall is the Program Director for Focus on Community, managing the Drug-Free Communities grant. K.C. works alongside the Drug-Free Communities Coordinator to oversee the grant and manage program activities.
K.C. has been with Focus on Community since 2013 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from UW Oshkosh. With 26 years of experience working with youth in the prevention field and over 21 years of experience in substance misuse prevention, K.C. is deeply committed to making a difference in the community. The most rewarding aspect of K.C.'s work is spending time with youth and positively impacting their lives

De’Marius Bogguess
Project Coordinator
De’Marius Bogguess serves as the Project Coordinator for Focus on Community, where he oversees the coordination of the Drug-Free Communities grant. In this role, he collaborates with the Collaborative for Children’s Mental Health to ensure compliance with grant requirements and facilitate program activities. De’Marius has been with Focus on Community and brings five years of experience in human services, with a focus on mental health. He is currently an undergraduate student at Gateway Technical College and is also pursuing his Substance Abuse Counselor-In-Training (SAC-IT) as well as Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) license. De’Marius is passionate about fostering life-changing outcomes and improving community well-being through his work.

Julie Hueller
Manager
Julie has served as the Manager for the Racine Collaborative for Children’s Mental Health (C2MH) since 2017. C2MH is dedicated to developing innovative solutions to address the unmet mental health and addiction prevention needs of youth in the Racine community.
With over 30 years of experience in the mental health and addiction healthcare field, Julie brings a wealth of knowledge from her healthcare background. She holds a Nursing Diploma from St. Luke’s School of Nursing, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UW-Parkside, and a Master’s degree in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University.
